Nepal Earthquake Reconstruction

In 2015, an earthquake struck in Nepal on 25th of April with a magnitude of 7.8, followed by several strong aftershocks. The main epicentre of the disastrous earthquake was in Gorkha District. The quakes killed at least 9,000 people, and left many thousands homeless and in desperate need of food, shelter and medical help.

NHCF appealed to the local community and was also actively involved in raising funds to support for those victims in need. With the help of volunteers and generous support from local organizations such as Media Wave Communications, Sikh & South Asian communities in lower mainland as well as various Gurudwaras in BC and Alberta, NHCF has been able to assist a large number of earthquake affected communities in the remote villages of Nepal.
